Shaping Mobility: MIAS 2023 Ushers in the Age of Electrification

The Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) made a triumphant return in 2022, and its 2023 edition proved to be a resounding success. Drawing a new record of 149,000 people over the course of four days, this year’s event saw a total of 16 brands making their presence felt at the World Trade Center Manila. However, what is most noteworthy is that Chinese auto brands dominated the list of participants, with 9 out of 15 brands present at this year's edition hailing from the PRC. This marks a significant shift in the auto industry, as Chinese automakers are quickly gaining traction in the global market.

The MIAS 2023 also ushered in the age of electrification for the Philippine motoring industry, as automakers previewed a plethora of electrified vehicles. With the theme “Shaping Mobility,” a total of 17 car brands showcased their latest offerings or gave car buyers a glimpse of what they could expect in the near future. This indicates that the auto industry is moving towards a more sustainable future, with electric vehicles becoming more accessible to the general public.

As for the hottest cars of MIAS 2023, the Ford Territory, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Jetour Dashing, Jetour Ice Cream EV, MG ZS Nite Edition, GAC Emkoo, and Great Wall Cannon stole the show. These vehicles showcased the latest in automotive technology and design, and it's no wonder that they garnered so much attention from attendees.

Overall, MIAS 2023 was a testament to the resilience of the automotive industry and a glimpse into its future. The dominance of Chinese automakers and the prevalence of electrified vehicles point towards a shift in the industry's landscape, and it's exciting to see what the future holds for the Philippine motoring scene.
